I'm Maurits Beenackers (1970), married, have 3 kids and we are living in Nieuwegein (nearby Utrecht). As you can see, I make realistic, surrealistic and magic realistic paintings. Salvador Dali is the best painter of the decend century, if you ask me. I learned myself how to paint, I'm a psychologist and I work as a manager in a mental health service. I try to spent as much time as possible on my passion and dream: painting. In 2009 I followed lessons by the great Dutch fantastic realist Herman Smorenburg. I learned the old Renaissacne technics the great masters used: an underpainting followed by layers of oil paint. It takes a lot of your discipline, knowledge and effort, but it's worth while when you want to paint realistic. And that's what I want.
I'm a big fan of the work of Eddy Stevens. And I have a painting from him meself. I love it and it is an inspiratrion for my as you can imagen! I've met him ans asked him if it is alright if I come and visit him sometime. I'm planning to do so in 2010. I recognice a lot in his work. His focus on the female nude for example. A traditional theme. In the summer of 2009 a went on route with a model and layed the fundation of the works I'm making now. A view of them are ready.
I also love photografie as you can see.
